BOO!

It’s a picture extravaganza!
Well, not really. But I figured I’d pad the post with a couple pics to compensate for my inadequate posting schedule. Digital trouser stuffing, you could say.
Last post was… October 1st? Sweet god, it’s been a long time. Possibly sadder than my lamentable ability to provide regular posts is how little has actually been going on since then. But I’ll try to provide the rundown as things come to mind.
Since I just edited the thumbnail for the relevant picture, I’ll go ahead and mention that Derek, my good friend from Vassar, was kind enough to visit recently. We spent our time watching football, talking about World of Warcraft, buying alcohol, ‘playing’ tennis, and generally shooting, if you will, ‘the shit.’ A brief visit, but certainly an appreciated one, as that weekend probably did more for my social life than the previous 4 months. One of the most frustrating things about retail is the mutual exclusivity of scheduling; that is to say, if I have time off, odds are that any coworker friend I have is going to be working. Soooo, outside of Bonnie (with whom I rarely share more than one day off per week), my social interaction is mostly limited to customers. (Thus, I eagerly await ouralien overlords.) Having said that, it was very nice to visit with Derek, and hang out with a friend. Derek was kind enough not to laugh too much at my obsequious requests for a few tennis volleys…. I handle a tennis racquet like the LAPD handles public relations (though they have far more experience), while Derek was captain of his high school’s tennis team. Being on the team in high school, he says, is all about being consistent. You don’t have to be great, just consistent. I’m confident I could qualify for a middle school team, maybe. But then, I’m 25. Ah, well. Derek did ask me to give him a copy of our old VSA Executive Council picture, which I scanned in a cleaned up a tad (way too many dust artifacts, though)….
(You can click on that one for a full-size copy, DerDer.)
Following a friend’s suggestion, I created an iTunes playlist of songs with a zero playcount. It’s a bit inaccurate, as my library got reconstructed a few months ago. But… 4093 tracks, 15.18 GB. Yeesh. Why do I still have the full arcade collection of Dance Dance Revolution tracks? I can only blame the delight I take in kitsch. Some of this is just inaccurate, due to the library rebuild (like hell I haven’t played my Beatles White Album), and some of it is stuff I’ve pulled down off Torrent and just haven’t fully gotten around to yet (50 Years of Bluegrass Hits? Shit yeah.) Some of it brings back memories (OMFG, the White Stripes ADVANCE VINYL of Elephant that I got from the AppleCare room at Palisades!!!), while some of it ought to stay forgotten (Porno Rock? What the…?). Anyway, even after being chipped away at, I’m still looking at about 9.9 days of music…. we’ll see how that goes.
How goes the WoW? Well, Bonnie is nearly 60 with her priest…. 59 and not much further to go. Soon, I will walk around able to say “My girlfriend has a level 60 Undead priest.” That thudding sound you hear is the jaw of every dork in the world dropping at the same time. She’s mine… MIIIINNNEEE!!!! Bwahahahaha. Will she become a frag queen? Nah… she’s already naughty enough. I’m near to 50 with Zimah, my Troll mage, and Bonnie is nursing a rogue and warrior alt. My good friend Jeremy is still sub-40 and consequently mount-less, so feel free to harass him to get his butt in gear.
Bonnie and I recently ‘celebrated’ our 5-year anniversary. Celebrated in scare-quotes b/c we haven’t really done much, but we did treat ourselves to a nice sushi dinner, resulting in hugely distended midsections and similarly wide smiles. We’re both just as gaga as we were back then, so chalk it up to persistent love or persistent chemical imbalance… if there is, indeed, a difference. We’ll be hitting the Anti Flag/Bad Religion show in Sayerville on the 19th to celebrate in more raucous style.
Somewhat big changes around the ol’ workplace…. They’re adding two full-time Genius-related positions—one an ‘admin’ to take care of all the case management and paperwork, the other a ‘creative’ to be a sort of “application Genius.’ In addition, they’ll be hiring a part-time Genius to fill in around 20-30 hours a week. I hesitate to say much more about it until I see how it pans out, but I am cautiously optimistic about the matter.
Fall is finally settling in on south Jersey, though the weather could certainly get colder faster, in my humble opinion. Fall (or Autumn, for the pretentious set), is, without a doubt, the best season, and anyone that disagrees is wrong. Halloween and Thanksgiving are far better than any other season’s holidays, the sort of food served around this time is great, the temperature is sublimely beautiful, and hey—those leaves turn the most delightful colors. The crunch of leaves underfoot beats out the crunch of snow or grass any day, and during no other season is the voracious, shameless consumption of apple and rhubarb pies so thoroughly encouraged. Did I mention football? (Congratulations, Colts… I have a monkey here that says you kicked him off your back.) As much as I hate the sort of ‘machismo bullshit primal warpaint grunt-grunt tribal’ thing that has evolved around the sport of football, I still really enjoy the game. I really do see it as a sort of action RPG form of chess… “spectator sports are a tool of the patriarchy” aside, of course. (And I’ll leave it at that, lest Bonnie read this and start to groan about how I’m doing my “I like football but that’s okay” lecture again.)
In some exciting personal purchase news, I’ll just paste in the following….

…. but goddamn, I hope they ship it sooner than that. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to RAW photography imports without the 5 minute wait to render the thumbnails. *droool*
On that note, I leave you with cute kitties. ‘Til next time.

In other, more “fucking awesome” news…

Our very own Bonnie Rose Blass, Knight Templar of the Order of Cool, has been accepted, WITH scholarship, into the Arcadia University Physician Assistant program. Yeaaahhhh, SUCK IT, Drexel!
I encourage you to post comments indicating your unanimous and enthusiastic support of this turn of events, given that this, to put it eloquently, fucking rocks. We’re understandably thrilled here at 3308 Sagemore, and I may have to fit Bonnie with restraints if she remains this excited. Super cool development (did I mention the $4000/year scholarship?), and something that we’ll both be very much looking forward to.
Anyway, I just had to get this published ASAP. We now return you to your irregularly scheduled weblog….
